PLANT CARE PROGRAM
General Plant Care is performed to enhance tree and shrub appearance by strengthening the health of the plant and allowing it to compete against pests. Our personnel will perform plant inspections on a routine basis as part of our Integrated Pest Management (IPM) activities. Utilizing Targeted Pest Management (TPM), we will apply broad spectrum applications to minimize known routinely expected pest problems with the least amount of pesticides. Materials will be applied by a Certified Pesticide Applicator at manufacturer’s recommended rates to provide pest control consistent with the label. This program includes ornamental trees and shrubs under twenty (20) feet not serving as groundcovers.
There are several species of insects (i.e., scale, pine bark beetle, Japanese beetle, and mites) that may require a more extensive control program. Certain species (e.g. borers) may not be controllable. Wildlife such as deer, geese, ducks, skunks, raccoons and others may cause damage to plant material and may be controlled under another program or as an added service at an additional cost.
Dormant Oil Application
During plant dormancy, before rising spring temperatures encourage pest activity and subsequent damage, we will apply horticultural oil to plants which have scale present or are known to be prone to infestation by other insects or mites (e.g. needled evergreens, juniper, euonymus, holly, ornamental cherry, oak and maple). NOTE: Because horticultural oil removes the color, blue spruce and juniper are not normally treated.

Broad Spectrum Insect / Disease Applications
Throughout the season we will perform three (3) applications of a broad spectrum insect control timed according to expected pest activity and weather conditions. One of these applications may also include a broad spectrum disease control timed according to expected activity and weather conditions.
Tree and Shrub Fertilization
We will apply a fertilizer treatment between October 15 and December 31.
Additional Applications
Due to the nature of pest problems being extremely weather sensitive (especially disease control), added applications may need to be performed. We will consult with you whenever we believe that these procedures are needed and perform the work, upon your approval, at an additional charge.
